Mike’s Cooking Corner: Fairly Decent Mac n’ Cheese

I am by no means a chef

With that said i would like to share with everyone what i had for lunch today, macaroni and cheese!

Now don’t get me wrong, the kraft blue box is alright, but just alright on its own. I tend to make my own twist by doing things such as adding some cheddar and american cheese, or throwing some chopped up chicken tenders in.

Today i decided to get a little more adventurous and make a cheese sauce to go over my macaroni. Surprisingly, it came out very good; good enough to share the recipe with drewg.net! (so basically just me) Here goes.

Mac and Cheese with Cheddar Cheese Sauce:

Difficulty: Easy

Prep Time: 5 Minutes

Cook Time: 15 Minutes

You Need:

1 Box Kraft Mac n Cheese

1/4 Stick Salted or Unsalted Butter

2/3 Cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese

1 Tbsp Cream Cheese

4-5 Slices Land o Lakes American Cheese

2-3 Tbsp Heavy Cream

Enough water to fill your pots

A double boiler

A second pan for boiling pasta

1. Start By filling your pasta pan and bottom half of the double boiler with water, make sure that the top pan doesn’t come close to the water level in the bottom pan. Set the pasta pan on high heat, and the boiler on medium heat.

2. Make sure both pots have come to a boil, then add your macaroni to the pasta pan, reducing to medium heat and stirring occasionally. Add the butter to the top boiler pan.  Cook macaroni for 6-10 minutes depending on how soft you like it.

3. Once the butter has melted, add the shredded cheese and the cream cheese and stir. Keep slowly stirring until both cheeses have melted together.

4. Add American cheese on top of other cheeses and continue stirring until mixture is gooey and consistent.

5. Slowly add the cream while continuously stirring, once all of it has been added keep stirring for an additional 1-2 minutes or until sauce has become runny.

6. Drain water from pasta and put back in pan. Add cheese sauce, also add some of the powder cheese from the box for taste if desired.

And there you have it!

I’ve just decided that from now on I’ll be posting a random photo every day (unless I forget),
So every few days.
I just thought of the idea so I don’t have anything interesting. Therefore, I give you a parking lot.

Who’s that hoppin on them goobas?? It’s monino!!!!

So I was browsing the iPhone app store today, and I saw a little app with Mario on it, the title written in Japanese, released by someone called “FeYingInfo” and for only 99 cents!
My first thought is, holy crap, Mario for iPhone??!!? No, no way. Anywho, I googled the developer and lo and behold, a Mario clone has been released on the app store. The game’s called monino, starring Monino, mario’s slightly slower clone. The goal of the game is to rescue his brother from the evil Bowler in his castle. Apparently it was released yesterday, and the game is a clear copy of Mario.

Copyright infringement? I think so. Not only is the artwork stolen, the game uses copyrighted background music. No idea how this one got by apple and got their approval.. Well I kinda do, apple doesn’t care until people complain or try to steal the spotlight. Anyways it’s already taken off unfortunately, and by the time I found out about this gem never to be seen again, it was already removed from the app store :(
Sigh, what a shame.
Here’s an article with a gameplay video

Super Monino Bros!!!!

TSA getting out of control??

Ahh its good to be back!

So I’m sure by now you’ve heard the big controversy over what happened at a New Orleans airport last week, i just felt like voicing my opinion on the matter. For those of you that live under a rock, here’s what went down.
Long story short:

On April 5th, a TSA official at Armstrong International Airport decided to do a random body search on a 6 year old girl… What?
The mother asked if they could just scan her again, and of course the official said no. The enraged parents decided to record this event, and this shocking video of a scary black woman patting a small child down is all over the Internet.
This whole situation caught fire fast, and the chief of the TSA spoke up, calling in for changes of procedure with airport screenings.

20110415-122237.jpg

“The hell is going on? Ma! We better go to McDonalds after this, and I better get two toys.”

First of all, I think anyone would be frightened if a black woman patted us down telling us we have “pretty hair”. I honestly think that if you’re going to randomly choose who you’re going to pat down, you should have a gentler way of doing it to little children. Maybe have it done by a midget with a funny mustache, or a circus chimp, or something the same size of a small child.
But in all seriousness, parents normally teach their children that being touched in certain areas by strangers is bad, and something like this tells the child otherwise.
Personally, I think we should be profiling a little in airports. In the time spent searching this kid, a former Taliban member is walking by airport security with a makeshift dagger created by Macgyver. I’m not racist at all, but I mean, who should you pick to search; the family with kids that just got back from Disney world, or the pack of mexicans that have a previous record of drug trafficking? Ugh, the world we live in.

Anyways, that’s my bit and my first real post.
Enjoy,
Zilla

Ps
The WordPress app for iPhone is pretty decent.

BP Oil Disaster

UPDATE 6/7/10:
I will sum things up.
-The spewing well has not yet been capped (Relief wells are expected to be completed by August at the earliest, which would finally bring a permanent stop to this leak)
-BP has managed to finally fit a cover over the pipe, which is capturing “most” of the oil and carrying it to a barge.

CHECK OUT A LIVE VIDEO STREAM OF OIL STILL LEAKING FROM THE CAP

This is what it looks like today – cover in place and everything:

-To guage the size of this oil slick, please take a look at this website: http://www.ifitwasmyhome.com/

For those of you who did not visit the site, the growing oil slick from this spill is LARGER THAN THE STATE OF CONNECTICUT RIGHT NOW AND GROWING

-This is now AT LEAST TWICE AS BAD as the Exxon Valdez disaster, and is officially the worst U.S. oil disaster to date.

-I had an awesome youtube video/slideshow that had some great footage and an easy timeline documenting the start of this disaster, and it mysteriously disappeared from youtube due to some sort of terms violation. This screams BULLSHIT at me, and this post has thus earned the “bullshit” tag. I will try my best to locate that video or something similar, and host it here at drewg.net, where it won’t be so easy for BP to take down. IF YOU FIND ANY GOOD VIDEO/IMAGES – POST IN COMMENT OR SEND TO ME PLEASE

I guess that’s it for now.

/UPDATE

So I heard about this BP oil spill, and looked into it a little bit. I remembered vaguely from back in middle school the teacher going on about how the Exxon Valdez tanker spill in Alaska was one of the most horrible disasters in the world, caused the destruction of an ecosystem, etc.

I figured that a leaking hole in the ocean floor spewing thousands of gallons of oil into the ocean PER DAY and as of the date of this writing STILL HAS NOT STOPPED, was a pretty bad thing.

Here is a video that pretty much sums it all up:
httpvhd://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtDna1six04

EDIT 6/6/2010 – This video has been removed as of this date. I will try to track it down and host it myself this time.

Wonder why it was taken down…
/EDIT

Now what have we learned…

BP seems to have downplayed the spill tremendously, shrugging it off to most folks (except those on the Gulf coast), as a mere pissleak they will have cleaned up in no time.

What have they done so far? Oh yeah, to siphon “5,000″ gallons of oil per day onto a FUCKING BARGE, for “storage”*CoughPROFITCough*

Oh, and issue wonderful statements like this:

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/05/18/bp-chief-predicts-modest-oil-spill-impact/

“”I think the environmental impact of this disaster is likely to have been very, very modest,” Tony Hayward said. “It is impossible to say and we will mount, as part of the aftermath, a very detailed environmental assessment but everything we can see at the moment suggests that the overall environmental impact will be very, very modest.”

Click here to see video of Tony Hayward’s statement.

BP has begun capturing some of the leaking oil after inserting a suction tube into the fractured riser pipe on the seabed.

It is gathering up an estimated one fifth of the oil pumping out of the fractured well.

“Over the last 36 hours we have made a lot of progress on containment on the seabed,” Hayward said. “We have a piece of technology engineering which we have developed and which is now allowing us to produce oil from the leak to the surface.”"

What the FUCK?????

I will add more to this, it is late right now, but I felt like this had to be posted immediately. Stay tuned.

April Fools – Best Pranks EVER

Thats right, it’s 11:56PM on April 1st, I’M NOT TOO LATE!
Courtesy of Cracked.com
80s movies set us up to believe that every prank we would pull would be awesome. Reality, however, was sadly different. Except, however, in these extremely awesome cases.
