I am by no means a chef
With that said i would like to share with everyone what i had for lunch today, macaroni and cheese!
Now don’t get me wrong, the kraft blue box is alright, but just alright on its own. I tend to make my own twist by doing things such as adding some cheddar and american cheese, or throwing some chopped up chicken tenders in.
Today i decided to get a little more adventurous and make a cheese sauce to go over my macaroni. Surprisingly, it came out very good; good enough to share the recipe with drewg.net! (so basically just me) Here goes.
Mac and Cheese with Cheddar Cheese Sauce:
Difficulty: Easy
Prep Time: 5 Minutes
Cook Time: 15 Minutes
You Need:
1 Box Kraft Mac n Cheese
1/4 Stick Salted or Unsalted Butter
2/3 Cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
1 Tbsp Cream Cheese
4-5 Slices Land o Lakes American Cheese
2-3 Tbsp Heavy Cream
Enough water to fill your pots
A double boiler
A second pan for boiling pasta
1. Start By filling your pasta pan and bottom half of the double boiler with water, make sure that the top pan doesn’t come close to the water level in the bottom pan. Set the pasta pan on high heat, and the boiler on medium heat.
2. Make sure both pots have come to a boil, then add your macaroni to the pasta pan, reducing to medium heat and stirring occasionally. Add the butter to the top boiler pan. Cook macaroni for 6-10 minutes depending on how soft you like it.
3. Once the butter has melted, add the shredded cheese and the cream cheese and stir. Keep slowly stirring until both cheeses have melted together.
4. Add American cheese on top of other cheeses and continue stirring until mixture is gooey and consistent.
5. Slowly add the cream while continuously stirring, once all of it has been added keep stirring for an additional 1-2 minutes or until sauce has become runny.
6. Drain water from pasta and put back in pan. Add cheese sauce, also add some of the powder cheese from the box for taste if desired.
And there you have it!
